Elaine Lustig-Cohen
Taking note of the color usage across Elaine’s work I wanted to pay homage through creating a vivid, geometric layout that plays across the entire magazine showcasing her history as a designer.
Some of Elaine's work with Meridian Books
Translating the information from Elaine Lustig-Cohen's website into an editorial layout, strong inspiration was taken from Elaine's books covers to create a vibrant engaging text, examining her style and personality.
It was really important as this was being built that the spirit of Elaine was captured not just the style. One of the ways this was achieved was using color intentionally to bleed the lines of vibrant art and strict structure. Having the text cross over imagery as well as have the bold red frame text blocks that are traditionally overlooked were used to accomplish this.
